Skill Development Initiatives in India

This paper examines the development of skill-training initiatives and the role of international players in the skill development sector in India. Structural changes in the Indian economy towards higher-productivity sectors have required a systematic 'up-skilling' of the labor force in order to support the country’s inclusive economic growth. As a result, skill development has become a national priority and a number of skill-training initiatives have been undertaken over the last few years.
