Urban Armed Violence

In this audio presentation from the 2013 International Security Forum, four experts discuss the growing challenges of maintaining urban security, particularly in the face of shifting demographics, strained public services and even city remodeling. While exploring these challenges, the speakers also address security measurement issues, safety monitoring, and the links between urban armed violence and development programs. (Note: The speakers include Anna Alvazzi Del Frate, who is the Research Director of the Small Arms Survey at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies; Moncef Kartas, who is the Project Coordinator of the Security Assessment in North Africa for the Small Arms Survey; Luigi De Martino, who is from the Geneva Declaration on Armed Violence and Development portion of the Smalls Arms Survey, and Michael James Warren, who is a consultant for the Safer Cities Programme at UN-Habitat.)
