Small Arms Trade: The Role of Hidden Actors

In this audio presentation from the 2013 International Security Forum, four experts discuss the growing role of 'hidden hand' actors in the global small arms trade. Among other things, they talk about some of the definitional issues associated with the trade; the prevalence of hard-to-trace shipments to Africa and elsewhere, both by Iran and China; and the role specific small arms played during the US occupation of Iraq. (Note: The speakers include Matt Schroeder from the Federation of American Scientists; Christelle Rigual from the Small Arms Survey at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies; Paul Holtom, who is the Director of the Arms Transfers Programme at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, and Hugh Griffiths, who also works at SIPRI.)
