Chapter 6: Is the Begin Doctrine Still a Viable Option for Israel?
This chapter evaluates a possible Israeli pre-emptive attack on the Iranian nuclear program. The author argues that Israel’s preferred policy is to let the US and the European states help deal with Iran and postpone the decision on violent preventive action. So far, Israel has no reason to believe that the political negotiated option was exhausted. The chapter's conclusion is that eventually the two parameters decisive in the Israeli decision are the assessment whether the Iranian program can be stopped by other means and the assessment of the operational feasibility.
