Mainstreaming the Organizational Management of Safety and Security
This report based on consultation with 20 organizations, including NGOs, the ICRC and UN agencies, offers a comparative overview of aid agencies' attempts to strengthen the management safety and security. The author begins by clarifying the conceptual and practical similarities and differences between safety and security and then notes what triggers efforts to effect organizational improvements as well as where resistance within an organization may lie and why. The report offers not only a management review, but also provides tools and arguments for managers to review rapidly where their organization is, to orient improvements and to identify objectives.
