Energy Security: The Euro-Atlantic Community and the Nordic-Baltic States
This chapter discusses the role of the Nordic-Baltic region in the energy security of the EU. The author contends that for NATO and the EU, energy security means obtaining reliable, commercially viable, and environmentally sound supplies of oil, natural gas, and electricity at market-based prices without paying a political premium that undermines other strategic objectives. It is argued that the Nordic and Baltic States can play a significant role in achieving these objectives.
