Postwar Youth Violence
A Mirror of the Relationship Between Youth and Adult Society
Postwar societies are particularly susceptible to outbreaks of youth violence. However, not all of these societies experience similar levels of violence. This article explores how these variations can be explained by 1) comparing the interaction between youths and adults in Guatemala and Cambodia, 2) analyzing the risk factors young people face in both societies, and 3) accounting for the actual ways these societies and their youth try to cope with and overcome the obstacles that choke the pathway to adulthood.
