This issue of Al Nakhlah examines the resilience of the traditional clergy in post-revolutionary Iran, the concept of jihad in the context of Shi'a doctrine, and the difference between Islamic and Sharia law. It also explores the precipitants of the Tehran hostage crisis between 1979 and 1981 and the US' responsibility in creating them.
