Ottoman Official Attitudes Towards American Missionaries
This paper offers a brief survey on the expansion of US missionary activities in the Ottoman Empire during the 19th and early 20th centuries. It discusses the main points of dispute between the Sublime Porte and the missionaries. It further evaluates the effects of American missionary activities throughout Ottoman territories.
