Young Minds Rethinking the Mediterranean

This book sheds light on the processes of “othering” and alienation in large part responsible for the troubled history of the Euro-Mediterranean region. It serves as a tool through which the past and the future can be understood. The authors examine prejudice, the largest obstacle facing Turkey on its path to EU membership, while touching on various issues such as minority rights, culture, the role of symbols in politics, culture within the capitalist order and its political outcomes, and EU-Mediterranean politics. The book comprises six articles written by young researchers for the first Euro-Mediterranean Forum for Young Researchers in Istanbul.
