Making of a New Constitution in Turkey
Monitoring Report
The paper concentrates on the process of the making of a new constitution that is initiated by the Turkish Parliament following the general elections of June 12, 2011. Accordingly, the Constitutional Reconciliation Commission is formed in October 2011. On a societal level, there is an environment of lively yet stifled debate regarding the new constitution, as well as a number of flaws and issues in terms of how the process is functioning. This paper refers to the "Monitoring the Constitutional Process Project" and covers the period between October 1, 2011 and January 31, 2012.
