Climate Change and Sea Level Rise
Issues and Challenges for Coastal Communities in the Indian Ocean Region
This paper looks at climate change and sea level rise in the Indian Ocean region. The first section provides a brief overview of the topic. The second examines the vulnerabilities of natural ecosystems, urban areas, and social systems in the coastal zones. The third and fourth discuss the coastal management strategies, institutional arrangements, and policy challenges in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, respectively, as case studies. The paper concludes with some recommendations.
