South Stream Gains Momentum as Bulgaria Threatens to Procrastinate
This policy brief discusses the Russian South Stream gas pipeline project. It discusses the stances of Russia and Bulgaria in relation to the project and its possible implications for Greece. On June 4 Russia’s President Vladimir Putin announced the decision of his government to start the construction of the South Stream project by December 2012, thereby confirming an earlier Gazprom decision to push forward the original timetable for the pipeline’s construction by almost a year.
