The Agrarian Question in Southern Africa and 'Accumulation from Below'
Economics and Politics in the Struggle for Democracy
This paper explores, using a political theory lens, the relationship between politics and economics in agrarian southern Africa. The author critiques the statist Left, the leading political ideology of post-colonial southern African regimes and argues that it is the chief impediment to democracy. The paper also outlines the development notion of an 'accumulation from below.'
