PM Lee Invites India to Partner ASEAN in New Initiative
This special report presents an overview of the Singapore Symposium that took place in New Delhi on 12 July 2012. On the occasion of the symposium, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong conveyed a strategic message to his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh that the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) would "welcome" India’s participation in the proposed Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). International observers view the proposed RCEP as the latest in a series of ASEAN initiatives to configure a forum which aspires to become a decisive factor of regional stability in the political and strategic domains as well.
