Gilani’s Removal: A Step in the Right Direction
This paper discusses the Pakistan Supreme Court's decision to remove Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani and the subsequent acceptance of this verdict. This should have happened earlier, had the court’s decision in the "contempt case" on April 26 2012 been fully implemented instead of ignored. The author argues that these moves show Pakistan’s political order to be evolving in the direction towards a more democratic system.
