Bringing Islamic Extremist Groups, in the Middle East, to the Negotiating Table: The Lessons from the Northern Ireland Peace Process
By introducing and analyzing the peace process in Northern Ireland, this paper aims to suggest ways to bring Islamist extremist from the Middle East to the negotiating table. The paper introduces different conflict resolution methods before it reviews the developments in Northern Ireland and in the Middle East. Special emphasis is devoted to issues such as security, political will and learning from the past.
