US-Russia Relations: Death of the 1990s
The 1990s marked the nadir of Russia’s international standing. The perception was that every time Washington told Moscow to jump, the response was: “How high?” Now, Vladimir Putin, flush with cash, and possessing undisputed political power at home, has come at the invitation of George W Bush to be recognized as a political equal.
