Afghanistan After America: Possible Post-Drawdown Scenarios
The paper anticipates the overall situation after the United States' withdrawal from Afghanistan. The authors believe that the United States and its NATO allies will keep increasing their distance from Kabul, eventually treating it as just another in a long list of capitals in small countries around the world where they had left their boot-print. Afghanistan’s neighbors will begin to aggressively pursue their own perceived strategic interests in that unfortunate country. The pursuit is likely to be individualistic rather than collaborative.
