Chinese Women's Lives: Rhetoric and Reality
This paper discusses the status of women in rural China. The author explains that while some of China’s accomplishments are notable when it comes to women's rights, in rural areas women remain subordinated to men, segregated in the work force, and are more likely than males to remain illiterate. According to the author, China's economic deregulation exposes women to additional job discrimination.
