Indonesia: Dynamics of Violence in Papua
In May and June 2012, the Indonesian province of Papua experienced an outbreak of ethnic violence and unrest. This report identifies two main factors that lie behind the violence. The second concerns a domestic security policy that is perceived to run contrary to Jakarta's commitment to building trust, accelerating local development, and ensuring continued autonomy for the area.
