Key Players in the Asia Pacific Oil Market
This working paper evaluates the role of the so-called 'key players' in the Asia-Pacific oil market - namely China, India, Indonesia, Japan and South Korea. The author argues that future developments in energy and economic policy in these countries will necessarily have major strategic and commercial implications for the region. After providing a regional economic and energy outlook, some of the important issues driving the oil market in each of the aforementioned countries are dissected. These include the uncertainty surrounding shifting oil consumption patterns and security of supply.
