Borders and People: The Liberty and Security Balance
This roundtable report documents the discussions of the SDA's April 2006 conference on the border management of the European Union. The panelists discuss the efficiency of the member states' border policies, the prospects for a clear mandate on civil liberties protection versus more efficient security controls, and whether heightened security in Europe will remain a matter for national policymakers, or rather move to the EU-level.
