This publication examines the importance of monitoring financial flows to health research, with a special focus on public research in selected Latin American countries. It analyzes the types and sectors of research carried out by the various public institutions, and concludes with the Global Forum for Health Research's Report Card 2009, which tracks progress in health research against agreed targets.
