Does the ISN have a particular subject or regional focus?
The ISN’s focus has evolved in parallel with the key developments in international relations. In its early days, the service was dedicated to “hard” security issues such as defense, diplomacy and conflict. Our regional focus, meanwhile, was almost exclusively Euro-Atlantic. Since then, our focus has widened to cover a broader spectrum of global issues, as well as much of the globe.
Today, we collect content on international law, human security, energy, the environment, economics, development and technology among other subjects. The broadening of our focus can be attributed to greater global interconnectedness and the fact that today’s security concerns cannot be effectively addressed with limited and isolated solutions. Through our information aggregation activities, we hope to encourage a holistic understanding of international affairs.
