Civil Society and the Quest for Democracy in Uganda: Threats and Opportunities
In this video, the National Endowment for Democracy's Frank Rusa Nyakaana explores the opportunities and challenges faced by Ugandan civil society groups as they struggle to establish political accountability within their country. In doing so, Nyakaana also provides his own recommendations on how international development practitioners, civil society and the Ugandan government can work more closely together to enhance the latter's transparency. (Note: Nyakaana's presentation is followed by comments by Eric Robinson, who is the Senior Program Officer for Africa at the National Endowment for Democracy.)
