The Rule of Law and Democracy Supporting Human Rights
In this lecture given at the 2013 Symposium on Cultural Diplomacy and Human Rights in Berlin, Dr Emil Constantinescu discusses the roles of democratic governance and the rule of law in supporting human rights. In particular, he addresses some of the contradictions embedded in the rule of law and how they complicate rights-based agendas. (Note: Constantinescu is the former President of Romania and the President of the Academy of Cultural Diplomacy in Berlin.)
