In this video, Ric Smith, who is Australia’s former Secretary of Defence, elaborates on a report recently produced by the Australia India Institute – i.e., "The Indian Ocean Region: Security, Stability and Sustainability in the 21st century." As part of his discussion, Smith addresses the Indian Ocean region’s changing geopolitical significance; the political ambitions pursued by its various states; and its evolving security relationship with other parts of the globe.
