The United States and Central Asia After 2014
This video features a panel discussion on US-Central Asia relations and the impact the US military's withdrawal from Afghanistan will have on them. More specifically, the panel focuses on a recent CSIS report that concludes post-2014 Central Asia will no longer feature prominently in US global strategy. Because such disinterest could help undermine the region's stability, the report argues that the US needs to stay engaged, but only in cooperation with Russia and China. (Note: The report is presented by Dr. Jeffrey Mankoff from the CSIS. The panelists include Thomas Graham, who is the Managing Director at Kissinger Associates, and S Frederick Starr, who is Chairman of the Central Asia-Caucasus Institute and senior Research Professor at John Hopkins University.)
