Envisioning a Regional Security Community
Challenges and Prospects in South Asia
South Asia has experienced very low levels of economic and political integration and it remains slow in enhancing regional cooperation. This chapter uses security community theory to examine the problems. The author contends that it is likely to take time to observe regionalism that is consistent with the approach. However, with some modifications, analysts can observe the nascent development of such communities. This work provides the basis of strategies that can help to bring about changes in the region’s approach towards collective security and development.
