Iran: The ‘Winner’ Ten Years after 9-11?
This paper looks at how Iran profited from the US-led military intervention in Afghanistan and Iraq following 9-11. In terms of geopolitics, the Iranian government has profited from both the change in Afghan government, as well as the removal of the Baathist regime of Saddam Hussein in Iraq. In the author's view, Iran’s external environment is the safest since the Islamic Republic’s founding.
