Acceding to Negotiations with Taliban through Pakistan Requires an Honest Neighbour
This brief examines the complex dynamics of Afghanistan’s negotiations with the Taliban and the part Pakistan is playing in the process. The author believes that Pakistan has been allowing sanctuary for the Taliban in order to foster a more compliant Afghan government following any future political settlement. He goes on to question whether, in light of this, there is any hope of Pakistan playing an honest part in facilitating Afghan-led and owned negotiations with the Taliban.
