Insider Attacks: Some Perspectives of the Afghan Security Forces
In this brief, the author shares his view on the reasons behind insider attacks on coalition forces by Afghan forces in Afghanistan. In his view, the majority of Insider attacks stem from discrimination and lack of respect and trust from Coalition forces. He concludes that the Afghan government and coalition forces must take interim measures to address the infiltration issues, and emphasizes the imperative for coalition forces to show a higher degree of respect for the cultural norms and sensitivities of the people of Afghanistan and to treat the ANSF as a nascent force still developing.
