Deploying the Energy Incentive: Reinforcing EU Integration in South-East Europe
This Brief analyzes the incentive for South-east Europe to gain access to the European Energy Community and its implications on regional developments. It argues that most Balkan states find it hard to establish a pathway to access the Energy Community due to their problems regarding the implementation of the rule of law. However, energy demand across the region creates an incentive that the Union could use as leverage to improve this situation.
