In Search Of Smart Defense in the Euro-Atlantic Area
This paper explores the developments concerning contemporary security challenges in the Euro-Atlantic area, through an analysis of the NATO's recently-articulated vision of smart defense. The author investigates the outcomes of the Chicago Summit and how to implement an effective and coordinated smart defence approach between all members of NATO. Furthermore, she argues that an increasingly complexity of the international security environment and the emergency of new threats require not only to develop key initiatives designed to enhance the ability of NATO to address these challenges but also to ensure the complete full coverage of all Allies providing the necessary flexibility through voluntary contributions.
