No Institutions
The author of this chapter analyzes the lack of effective institutions in Russia, noting the role institutions have played in post-communist transformation. The author notes that in Central and Eastern Europe, post-communist symptoms are kept hidden behind the European façades of new institutions but become active when the new system enters a period of instability.
