African Adventure? Assessing the European Union’s Military Intervention in Chad and the Central African Republic
This paper describes how the proposed EU mission in Chad and the Central African Republic has received wide media attention but little critical analysis. The author seeks to fill this gap by providing a rough net assessment of the projected EU mission and by shedding light on some of the most important challenges the operation could face. The paper evaluates the prospects of accomplishing the mission's objectives and analyzes the probability of handing over the mission to a follow-on force within one year.
