Central Asian Security Post-2014: Perspectives in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan
In the wake of the 9/11 attacks, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan facilitated Western power projection into Central Asia and, most importantly, Afghanistan. But what about the future, especially when ISAF forces withdraw from Afghanistan in 2014? This report speculates on the security planning options both ‘Stan’s’ might pursue, including the ‘regionalization’ of their efforts.
