South Korea: National Security or National Pride Regarding Japan?
This brief highlights some of the security-related tensions that exist between South Korea and Japan, including the Dokdo/Takeshima islets dispute. It further insists that although these tensions have several causes (nationalistic South Korean public opinion, etc.), the United States should continue to pressure both states to reconcile their differences. From a security standpoint, the reconciliation is absolutely critical.
