Japan’s Disaster Relief Diplomacy
Fostering Military Cooperation in Asia
This brief argues that Japan will increasingly be able to contribute toward the aim of a more stable and peaceful Asia-Pacific region by using disaster relief diplomacy. It also suggests that disaster relief operations that use military assets could lead to a military cooperation network in the region. The author thinks that Japan could play a leading role in such an institution.
