Organized Crime, Conflict, and Fragility
A New Approach
This report examines the dynamics between conflict, state fragility and transnational organized crime, demonstrating the links between the three problems. The author contends that responses focused exclusively on security and the rule of law will only have limited effect due to their lack of social, political and economic content. By broadening the conceptual understanding of the relationship between organized crime, conflict and fragility, it should be possible to implement more effective responses, she concludes.
