The Approach of the South African National Defence Force

This guide presents the implementation of South Africa's destruction program for surplus small arms. The report is motivated by the opinion that the South African procedures could prove valuable to other countries contemplating such programs. The information provided in this guide is designed for planners and practitioners of weapons collection programs. It attempts to strike a balance between offering generic information that will be of use to a number of countries and providing specific illustrations of the approach adopted by South Africa.
