In the Shadows of Globalisation: Drug Violence in Mexico and Central America
The author of this publication speculates over the root causes of the particularly high levels of drug violence in Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador. He posits that the region’s transformation to a neoliberal economy and the economic interdependence with the US has further diminished the already limited possibilities for young, marginalized Mexicans to establish a dignified life through legal means.
