Lessons from 2011: The New Media Revolution is a Strategic Asset
The brief argues that the 2011 uprisings were not solely caused by social media but is related to the convergence of various forms of media. In what the author call the 'new media revolution', television-media, social, and online networks are combined to become a powerful weapon in the hands of the common man. Consequently, what began with the Jasmine Revolution was not a fad, but a phenomenon that has democratized the control and monopoly over information.
