Japan, China, and the Great Power Bargain in East Asia
This paper argues that regional security in East Asia will increasingly depend on the successful negotiation of a 'great power bargain' between China and Japan. This bargain must encompass a range of fundamental geopolitical compromises, and must be based upon a basic understanding of power-sharing, not power competition.
