The Zimbabwean Nation-State Project
A Historical Diagnosis of Identity and Power-Based Conflicts in a Postcolonial State
This Discussion Paper provides an insightful, historically-rooted analysis of the crisis of the nation-state project in Africa, based on a case study of Zimbabwe. This case study examines the roots of the crisis of nation-statism by critically examining the nature of the colonial state as a racialized bifurcated structure, within which ethnic fault-lines emerged, contributing to the fragmentation of nationalist and liberation movements.
