Pakistan: US Foreign Assistance
How the US's 112th Congress will deal with Pakistan, the second largest recipient of American aid, is an open question. For many lawmakers in Washington the issue will be how to balance Islamabad’s strategic importance to the United States with the pervasive distrust that exists in the US-Pakistan relationship, growing budget deficit-reduction pressures, and persistent concerns about lack of transparency in the Pakistan account.
