Conceptualizing Transnational Organized Crime in East Asia in the Era of Globalization
Taiwan's Perspective
This paper scrutinizes transnational organized crime (TOC) in an era of globalization, with a focus on East Asia, and Taiwan in particular. This paper provides a conceptual framework which allows us to examine the nature of transnational organized crime in the globalized world. It argues that TOC is a dual dimensional phenomenon - identity and activity dimensions - and that both dimensions of TOC have been largely affected by globalization.
