China's Rise: The Return of Geopolitics?
The "rise of China," like hardly any other topic, feeds speculation about the future of the international system and its structures, the global economy, and energy security. Whether the ascent of the last couple of years can simply be extrapolated, how strong China's economy already is in comparison to other powers, may be matter of debate. But there can be no doubt that China's increasing economic might, its political standing in Asia and other continents, and the possibility of superpower rivarly between China and the United States are of eminent significance for German and European politics, and will not leave Europe's relations with the United States untouched either.
