The Internet's Effect on Business Organization: Bane or Boon for Developing Asia?
This paper discusses the rise of Internet as an important means for conducting a greater number of transactions between suppliers and large international corporations in Asia. Additionally, it analyzes how the Internet has opened new markets to the developing countries in Asia and has accelerated the diffusion of knowledge throughout the region. The author cautions that the Internet can also exacerbate current inequalities and recommends that Asian governments and companies make fundamental changes in their policies and the way they do business in order to address the challenges and take advantage of the benefits the Internet provides.
